CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Welcome to today's edition of Starting Blocks TV, our Web video show about what's going on in Cleveland sports. Today's Christmas Eve Eve show is a special edition of our "Hey Tony!" segment in which Browns beat writer Tony Grossi answers fan questions. Chuck Yarborough flies solo as host of today's show; his usual partner, Branson Wright, is spending the holidays with his family, enjoying some well-earned time off (and honest, he didn't pay us to say that ... or at least he didn't pay us ENOUGH to get us to say something we don't believe).
Tony also came up with today's Starting Blocks poll: Given that the Browns' last two games are against the hated Baltimore Ravens and the even more hated Pittsburgh Steelers, which of those two games would Browns fans rather win? The biggest surprise, at least to some, perhaps, is that Tony feels the Browns' magician "The Great Mangini" has one more trick up his sleeve, a win!
The "Hey Tony!" questions provided a forum for the veteran writer to opine on whether Mike Holmgren can handle being president AND head coach. The answer, according to Tony, is yes, primarily because Holmgren has already laid the foundation for the organization by serving as a suit for a full year.
But it's in no way a given that he is going to push Eric Mangini out the door. Nor, according to Tony in response to a question, would Holmgren install an offensive coordinator with whom Mangini is uncomfortable ... again, assuming Mangini keeps his job.
SBTV takes Christmas Eve off -- Duh! That's why Tony's "Hey Tony!" feature is airing today, and returns on Monday with Browns writer Mary Kay Cabot as guest to discuss Sunday's game against the Ravens, and next week's season-ender against the Steelers.
