The Tribe has been hovering around what I would like to say as "okay" baseball for the majority of the season. They're currently at 38-37 and just recently snapped their five game losing skid. Left-handed pitching seems to have us doing circles at the plate, we can't seem to hit- period-and we need another horse in the starting rotation. Go ahead - pick your poison. The Tribe can't seem to be able to figure any of them out.
When asked if this team can win the World Series, Mark Shapiro simply said "yes". I beg to differ. I understand that we are still in contention and that they are the best team in the city, but I mean come on. This is a good baseball team, but a World Series contender? Not quite.
The right-handed bat has got to play a role and we don't have it. And I think we still need another starting pitcher. Dempster? Soriano?. I hope so. Chris Antonetti did say they were talking to the Chicago Cubs. Yesterday the Tribe called a team meeting before last night's game against the Orioles. What I really think they need is George Knox to flip a buffet table or throw a chair at the bat rack.(Angels In The Outfield) But nonetheless, they went out and beat the Orioles 7-2 against, yes, a left-handed pitcher.
Now whether or not this team meeting in fact sparked the Tribe, I still believe they're a few key parts away from winning the World Series. Will we see the Tribe make some heavy moves in their hunt for the title? I sure hope so. If not, remember, you're a baseball player in a football town (Chris Perez). Go Browns!
