Like I said, we left at 8:30 Friday morning and arrived at our hotel at about 11:45 that night. It was a very long trip and was very rowdy and exciting to say the least. We woke up, ate breakfast and was back on the road. Our hotel was about 45 minutes from the field so when we arrived we were all very excited. The sight seeing I got to do in Omaha was phenomenal. Talk about a city built for specifically the College World Series. There were stores and tents everywhere selling anything and everything you could possibly think of that had to do with the CWS.
After sight seeing was the tail-gate party. Talk about even more rowdy than the bus. I sat with some guys that played for Kent in '92-'94 who played with head coach Scott Stricklin and they told some pretty interesting stories as well. Then the game. My seat was actually right next to Josh Cribbs so I got to be on T.V. quite a bit. He is truly one of the most humble guys I have ever talked to. He doesn't hold anything back. At times I had to remind myself he wasn't just one of my buddies and that he's actually the NFL's all time leader in kick off returns.
Following the game, we proceeded to walk back to our bus (about a mile) and everyone was looking at us like we were famous. As much as giving us high fives and just saying "Hey it's the flash mob!" Josh then road the bus with us to Golden Corral where we sat down for some dinner (which he also paid for). And we got to hear some awesome stories from him and ask him any questions we wanted to. I got some answers to questions I've been wondering about for a long time. About Peyton Hillis, Brandon Weeden, and Eric Steinbach.
Overall I still pinch myself to see if this was all a dream. But it wasn't and I got to spend nearly four hours right next to my lifelong favorite athlete and I wouldn't have traded it for anything. It felt like I was famous for a weekend and it was the best experience of my entire life.
There's so much more to the trip that I can't even describe in words. I want to personally thank Josh Cribbs again for making what most fans dream of, but was a reality for me.
