The Browns next quarterback, could it be Tim Tebow?

The Cleveland Browns and their need to upgrade at quarterback seems to be at the forefront of any conversation regarding free agency or the up-coming NFL Draft. Tim Tebow to the Browns, this is the latest battle chant for those seeking to replace Browns quarterback Colt McCoy, fans and media alike. Will the much heralded Tebowmania move to Cleveland and implant a mysterious glow above Browns Stadium, or will it merely add problems to an already troubled franchise?

Not wishing to enter into such a discussion I found myself compelled to do so after reading an article against bringing Tebow to Cleveland, a well written article titled "Cleveland Browns: Thinking of Tebow? Please Don’t" by Brad-over at Walk the Line. To further complicate the matter I also read an article with the opposing opinion, another informative article by Michael W. Youngman--Manning is a Bronco, Do the Cleveland Browns want Tim Tebow? So--to further complicate the matter I'll add another opinion.

Tebow is the true definition of a project quarterback, although talented and a wonderful athlete he must either adjust his game to fit the offensive scheme of the Browns version of the West Coast Offense, or the Browns must change the offensive scheme to fit Tebow. Watching McCoy, who is much more effective from the shot-gun, struggle at times being forced to play under-center implies that the Browns brain trust is un-willing to adapt to the quarterbacks strong points--unlike Denver, who played to Tebows strengths and steered from his weaknesses.

Tebows strong point is his ability to break out of broken plays and take off scampering up-field which will surely add a smile to members of the AFC North--such as James Harrison, wishing to add to the list of Browns quarterbacks who fail to play a full season. Tebow, with what many consider poor mechanics along with a sub-par ability to read defenses would be entering into an offense that many consider a very complicated scheme that takes a couple years to learn and needs a decisive and quick quarterback at the helm, not a problem provided the Browns are willing to invest the time and the coaches are capable of coaching Tebow or any other quarterback--this remains to be seen.

I know, Tebow beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, but then so did Brady Quinn. So, what about the good side, the "pros" about the Browns pursuing Tebow---the cost!

After the news breaking that the Broncos were signing Peyton Manning reports were quickly hitting the internet with claims of Denver seeking anyone interested in Tebow. If in fact these rumors are true the price for Tebow should be cheap, many reporting it to be a 3rd or 4th round pick in the draft. This would be a good price for a couple reasons!

As I stated, Tebow is a gifted athlete, tough and dependable who is a "work in progress". If the Browns are willing to invest the time and are capable of giving him the coaching he needs along with playing to his strengths then at that cost he would be a valuable pick-up.

Tebows work ethic and his desire to succeed cannot be questioned, along with his loyalty to his team and the fans--he has displayed this numerous times while being a Bronco. He doesn't seem to be the kind of player you have to worry about wrecking his motorcycle in a parking lot or shooting himself in the leg--among other things.

If Cleveland can contain the Tebowmania craze and of course change the "mile high messiah" tag that was placed on Tebow to something like "the lake Erie_____" then maybe. So---my take?

The article by Brad made some good points, however if it is possible to pick up Tebow at a 3rd or 4th round pick and keep the Tebowmania craze from running rampid in Cleveland I would have to agree with Mike!
