Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy has been struggling in training camp as reported by numerous media outlets. These struggles can be attributed to what many consider lack of talent and the pressure of competing with the Browns 1st round NFL Draft pick, quarterback Brandon Weeden. Without a doubt the so-called fair competition has to be taking a toll on McCoys attitude. One can imagine that being compared to a "horseshoe" is not flattering also.
After reading an article by LG at Cleveland Sports 360 regarding the Browns giving Clevelands new casino, the Horseshoe Casino, a Browns jersey with number 12 and --you guessed it--the name Horseshoe on it--I had to weigh in.
I honestly would not want to be compared to a horseshoe for a couple reasons. Naturally the horseshoe is attached to the "bottom most portion" of lets say--a mule to trudge through the mud and goop on his or her way to the barn. But then, there is also the "horseshoe crab" a wonderful little creature who is actually more closely related to spiders, ticks, and scorpions than to crabs. As a side note, the horseshoe is also considered good luck.
Colt McCoy is "battling" for the starting quarterback position for the Cleveland Browns. One can imagine that he was not happy with the drafting of Weeden or the frustration in knowing this competition is the furthest thing from being fair--Weeden was crowned starter over McCoy and Seneca Wallace before he set foot in Berea. How will he feel about his jersey on display with--horseshoe!
Your thoughts--a #12 jersey with the name Horseshoe--an insult to McCoy? What about another number? Or did they do this to let McCoy know he isn't going to be here anyway!
