Manning is a Bronco, Do the Cleveland Browns want Tim Tebow?

Finally, after months of stories, blogs, expert (and not so expert) analysis Peyton Manning is finalizing a deal with the Denver Broncos. Barring any issues with the contract negotiations, the Denver Broncos will look to trade their current starting QB Tim Tebow according to league sources. So Cleveland Fans, do you want Tim Tebow on your team? However, before jumping off the deep end at the mere mention of the Browns, and Tim Tebow, let’s look at what the Former 1st round pick can offer the ailing Cleveland Browns franchise.

The phenomenon of “Tebowmania” is something that has not been seen in the NFL for a very long time. It is amazing that one player can generate so many emotions (good & bad), and garner so much debate in just his second season as an NFL pro. The most interesting of which is how much attention is placed on his character. Too many times we have seen player’s names in the media for all the wrong reasons. It is a breath of fresh air to find an athlete with such a positive image not only in the NFL arena, but also within the community. He would bring with him that charisma, and national attention to a city that has been starving for a winner since coming back into the league in 1999.

The next thing to mention in regards to Tebow is his hunger for winning. All of the interviews and tweets regarding Tim Tebow from his fellow teammates is nothing but positive. In almost every interview including ones with coach John Fox, and executive vice president of football operations John Elway all essentially say the same thing. Tim Tebow wants to win, and when he is on your team he raises the level of competition and confidence in everyone on the team. You believe in him because he believes in you. Are we as Browns fans willing to pass on someone like that?

Now if the previous two points do not make you at least consider the possibility, then think about this. Tim Tebow led the #1 team in rushing last year. The “read option” offense that he is so adept at running caused many defensive scheming issues for opposing teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a run-heavy division like the AFC North, and on a team that lacks big time talent at the WR position, this type of offense could be the answer.

Denver will most likely do whatever it takes to move Tebow out of Denver (Probably at Manning’s request). So the idea that going to trade Denver for him is an idea that likely will not cost a lot. At the very least it brings in a supremely athletic player onto your team who can also play at receiver, and demands additional defensive scheming . So take a moment to consider it Cleveland fans, and tell me what you think.
