Brandon Weeden Shows off for ESPN’s Sports Science.
Just in case you have questions about Brandon Weeden’s accuracy and strength, you needn’t worry anymore. Weeden participated on ESPN’s Sports Science and wowed people with a “cool” demonstration of his accuracy.
Weeden is older than any other player in this year’s draft at 28. The reason for his late start in football was due to his choice to first pursue a career in baseball as he spent five years in the New York Yankee farm system as a pitcher. He later gave up his dreams of getting to the Majors as and instead became the signal caller at Oklahoma State.
Weeden broke many of Oklahoma State’s passing records on his way to a 23-3 record in his two seasons as the starting QB. Of course it doesn’t hurt having the nation’s top receiver in Justin Blackmon catching passes for you.
The main concern that scouts, and analysts point out about Weeden (other than his age), is his lack of mobility. He can also, at times be effected by the rush and at times, has been known to force a pass into coverage.
Weeden is projected to go somewhere in the second round, and has been to Berea this month dining with General Manager Tom Heckert, and spending time at the team’s facility with team President Holmgren and Head Coach Pat Shurmur.
“You never know how it’s going to go, but I feel really good about how everything’s gone with the Browns throughout the whole process” Weeden told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He also expressed that he would be excited to “compete with” Colt McCoy for the chance to be the Browns starting QB.
If you weren’t sold on Weeden before, does the video change your mind?
