Did the Browns do the right thing?

The Cleveland Browns had the opportunity to trade up to number two with the St. Louis Rams so they could then draft Robert Griffin III to be the savior of the franchise. They didn’t and I am happy they didn’t. I know RG3 is the Heisman Winner, and a big time talent, with a great personality. Now hear me out. The Browns have 2 picks in the first 22 and a high 2nd round as well.

The Browns first 3 picks last year were Taylor, Sheard, and Little. The Defensive Lineman had a solid year and I believe will improve again this year. Little to me seemed like what the people in the business call a project and he played that way for most of the season. Running wrong routes at times and dropping balls, but he also brought something else, he was able to catch a ball and break a tackle and get up field and that’s something the Browns have not had in it seems like never. I heard an interview with him last week and it sounded good, he was saying how the Browns wanted him to play at 215pds so he was at the U working on it, I was impressed.

Now in the 2011 draft they got Haden and Ward who both performed well. The Browns defensive backfield was visibly not as good with him not in there. So we have 5 guys from 2 drafts that have a chance of being good to real good for the next ten years. Now this is were I lose some of you. Colt McCoy, I would take Colt over 9 other starting QB’s in this League including Mark Sanchez, and Alex Smith. There is no way I would take Sanchez over Colt. Colt had a higher completion percentage and less Int’s, but Sanchez had more TD’s. With the team the Jets had around Sanchez, I believe McCoy could have done better. So I do believe you can go into this season with McCoy as the starter and compete.

I am not saying he is the answer, but he is what we have. If we get 3 players that can contribute like the last 2 draft’s have done I think we will be more than halfway to the rebuild being
