Browns Colt McCoy: If having "heart" won Super Bowls.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy has numerous critics along with a faithful following of die-hard fans who believe he should remain the starting quarterback for the Browns. One thing the majority, for or against can agree on--Colt is a tough  guy with a lot of heart. As it becomes more evident that Browns #22 pick Brandon Weedon will be starting this season, many are suggesting that Cleveland needs to trade or just release McCoy, leaving Seneca Wallace as backup quarterback.

McCoy is a likeable young man who was thrown into the starting gig due to injuries and has truly gone through, as he stated a "rough ride":

“It’s been a rough ride thus far,” McCoy said. “We’ve had our ups and downs. I’ve had three [offensive] coordinators going into my third year. Two head coaches in two years. There’s been some ups and downs and things you have to fight through. Most are things out of your control. But for me, I would just like a little consistency. I love the town. I love the fans. I think they truly deserve a winning football team. That’s what I want to do. I want to be there for the ride of turning that thing around. We’ll see what happens.”

Although numerous sports writers and armchair quarterbacks are quick to point out what they believe is the "downside" to keeping McCoy, things such as arm strength, accuracy and "happy feet",  one has to wonder to what degree these problems would improve, if any, if there was some consistency.

This revolving door policy in Cleveland--three offensive coordinators and two head coaches going into his third year, would have an effect on a seasoned QB--surely it had an impact on a young QB trying to get solid footing in the NFL.

I guess these thoughts are a "moot point" now that Weedon has entered the on-going Cleveland QB saga and it seems likely that McCoy will be elsewhere possibly before the start of the regular season. Hopefully Colt ends up with a team that has that consistency he speaks of and will offer him a fresh start in his dream of being a starting QB in the NFL.

One thing we all can agree on--the kid has "heart"--now if having heart won Super Bowls--Colt would have a hand full of rings!
